Data center and rack
A server can be valid on its own and still be the wrong answer at rack level. Power, cooling and density set physical limits on how much infrastructure can actually be deployed.
What I work on
Making sure those constraints are reflected when infrastructure is sized and configured as a system, rather than discovered on installation day.
Why it reaches back into the design
A rack has a power budget and a cooling limit before a single server goes into it, and the facility often decides density more than the equipment does. Some configurations that are valid on paper are not deployable at the density a particular customer has.
Footprint, power and cooling also keep being paid for long after the purchase order, which is why they belong in the cost model rather than in the installation notes.
