Lifecycle
Processors, memory, drives and server platforms do not stay still. Parts become constrained, replaced or discontinued, and the product has to absorb those changes without breaking what customers can order.
What I work on
I work across product, engineering and supply teams to identify affected configurations, validate replacements, and keep the catalog and underlying bill of materials aligned.
What has to stay aligned
The configurations a seller can quote, the designs engineering has validated, and the bill of materials the factory builds from. If one of those moves without the others, the gap shows up as an order that cannot ship.
Publishing a successor early invites customers to wait for it. Not publishing one leaves them exposed. Both are product decisions rather than engineering ones.
